picLens

While playing with Firefox 3 today I ran into a very cool application called PicLens. It is a very cool add-in built by Cooliris that allows you to view pictures on the web in a very unique way. You can browse images and videos through a 3D wall or using a slideshow. It works well toggling between the fullscreen PicLens and your browser. It works with Google images, YouTube, Flickr and you can even use it with Amazon.com to do your shopping. I highly recommend you take a look. They have additional demos on their website at http://www.piclens.com/ Enjoy, I sure am!

heaven Can Wait

Last weekend my mother, daughter and I walked in the Heaven Can Wait 5K walk for Breast Cancer. We were walking in honor of my mothers friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer about a month ago. She is going through treatments as I write this, so she is in our thoughts and prayers.

It was the first time I had participated in the Heaven Can Wait walk, and I plan to make it a yearly commitment. I know 2 others who have recently been treated for breast cancer and I am amazed by how many women get breast cancer. All of the women that were wearing blue Heaven Can Wait baseball hats during the walk are breast cancer survivors and you would be amazed at how many there are. More than 3300 people participated in the Run/Walk this year and I hope that number just continues to grow. Please consider participating next year. It is a truly wonderful and meaningful cause. For more info go to their web site http://www.heavencanwait.org/.

chipmunk Champions

I know this is a little late, but better late than never. My daughter and a team of friends raced in the Kids Mini-Pole Pedal Paddle a couple of weeks ago. They had a blast. The girls are all 2nd graders and it was their first year competing in the race. They did very well considering they were the last team in their raft and all the other teams shoved off and were part way down the river before our girls were even in their boat. That is probably my only complaint. I wish there would have been better sportsmanship with all the rafts leaving the shore at the same time. The teams that did have the head start were the teams that won the division. I'm assuming since our group was the first to race that morning that the rafting guides must have had to work out the kinks. Luckily our girls didn't notice and had a great time anyway.

All-in-all I highly recommend the mini-PPP. It was well organized and there were many volunteers that did a great job shuffling our kids around and my thanks go out to them. Our girls will compete again next year and if there was a complaint from them it would have to be that the race wasn't long enough. Thank you MBSEF and all volunteers.

Great job Chipmunk Champions!!!

powdr Corp. Please Sell

This is a great article.

I would love to see Powdr Corp. sell Mt. Bachelor and give Central Oregon our mountain back. What Powdr Corp. has done to our mountain is despicable and I want them to go away.

writer's Strike

Is it just me or is anyone else longing for their favorite tv shows? I am so addicted to tv that this writer's strike is really starting to effect me. I miss coming home from work, plopping in my big arm chair, and vegin-out in front of the big screen with my Tivo remote in hand. There is nothing new on right now. I miss my Grey's Anatomy, Heroes, CSI, NCIS, Desperate Housewives, Dirty Sexy Money, and my Ugly Betty. See, I really am a tv addict. Thank goodness Lost is returning this week. Hopefully it will be better than last season and will last long enough without scripts to give me something to look forward to on Thursday evenings. Please Hollywood, resolve this strike soon!!!
